Have you ever tried making your own vanilla extract? So much healthier and tastier than store-bought and usable in any recipe you want a nice deep vanilla flavour in.

This homemade vanilla extract is simply based on wodka and used vanilla beans. It’s made in less than 1 minute (the only thing is you have to wait for at least 6 weeks to get the right consistency and taste for the first time) but after that you’ll find out it was worth the wait.

So whenever you use vanilla seeds, don’t throw away your empty beans, just put them in a bottle (use a special one, this will enlighten the outlook of your kitchen). The more beans you put in the more intense the taste will become. After you used some extract in your recipe, just add wodka so the bottle contents will stay to the max forever.

Ingredients:

  • wodka
  • used vanilla beans

Directions:

  1. Use whatever size (preferably seasable) bottle you want and fill with wodka.
  2. Put in used vanilla beans and leave it for at least 6 weeks before use.
