Soft Prune Bar

Soft Prune Bar

It’s Friday morning at this moment and we’re having a run session on the agenda. Together with my husband going out to run for about an hour, taking your minds off of things, empty your head and running it all out, and after that, having that sense of satisfaction, I just love it!! Before you start running you need to take some necessary fuel of course and what could be better on a weekday than an energy bar as an excellent basis for that. For that I got up early and after walking the dog I quickly headed to my kitchen to prepare these pieces of force.

This bar has all the elements: organic ingredients, good nutrition and great taste! Whether you’re going for a run, feeling a moment of weakness is coming up or just having a long day ahead, this energy bar is a great suggestion. It is made of oats, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, flaxseeds and sesame seeds, prunes, agave syrup and an egg and for the extra touch I added a teaspoon of cinnamon. Oats are known for their slow release of carbohydrates and, together with the seeds and kernels which I have incorporated in it, it’s an excellent way to ingest fibers. A slow release of carbohydrates has the advantage that you can last for a longer time during the day and makes it less likely you’ll need something like a snack in between. It’s well known that prunes are super healthy and along with the agave syrup they belong to the so-called fast carbohydrates that help you right back on your feet when you’re having a little slump. The egg is taking care of the supply of proteins, which, for their part, are perfect for the strengthening of the muscles. So, In other words a real powerbar.

This bar is very easy and very quick to prepare, so try it yourself sometime, I’d say, even if you’re not a runner. After all, anyone can use some extra energy occasionally and this bar therefor is a very good option.
