Today a delightful authentic Turkish dish. Şekerpare (pronounced ‘Sheh-ker-PAK-Reh’) is one of the many beautiful and popular desserts of Turkish cuisine, mainly prepared by baking soft dumplings and then dipped in thick lemon syrup. Şekerpare has become one of the most popular Turkish sweets among locals and visiting tourists in Turkey. Because of the butter, semolina and syrup it is so soft that it melts in your mouth and in spite of the syrup is not excessively sweet. Although the syrup needs a rather long to time in order to be absorbed, it’s a simple and quick to prepare recipe, so as far as I am concerned just give it a try, if only to experience the Turkish atmosphere in your home.

Really good as dessert, with a High Tea or just with a cup of coffee.
