Baking a cake always guarantees happy faces. During baking the oven emits a wonderful flavour throughout your whole house and once the cake has cooled, your family is ready to attack.

A freshly made cake is always a winner, any time of the day. The apple cake is one of my favorites among the cakes and that’s why I prepare it regularly. This cake is a classic recipe with a little twist. Actually I added some tasty honey to it for an extra flavour. Of course the pieces of fresh apple are still in there and for a little crunch I have added some flaked almonds.

So if you once again want to serve a tasty apple cake, but this time one with a different twist to it? Then this recipe perhaps is the solution for you.

Recipe Honey Apple Cake


  • 150 gr flour
  • 150 gr butter
  • 150 gr granulated sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 30 ml honey
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 large apple
  • 20 gr flaked almonds
  • pinch of salt
  • icing sugar for dusting


  1. Preheat the oven to 150°C.
  2. Grease a round cake pan of about 9" with some butter and sprinkle with flour.
  3. Melt the butter.
  4. Cut the apple into cubes.
  5. Mix flour, baking powder and salt and set aside.
  6. Mix the eggs and sugar until fluffy.
  7. Slowly add the melted butter and then the honey and mix for about 3 minutes on medium speed.
  8. With a strainer, add the flour mixture above the bowl with the egg mixture and mix with a spatula into a whole.
  9. Fill your cake pan with the batter and sprinkle with half of the flaked almonds.
  10. Divide the diced apple over the batter and sprinkle with the rest of the flaked almonds.
  11. Bake approx. 45 miniutes (check the doneness of the cake by piercing it in the middle with a tooth pick. Does this look clean then the cake is ready).
  12. Dust the cake with some icing sugar for the finishing touch.
